DIEP 23
Back To Procedure
Description:
Age: 53
Diagnosis: Breast cancer
Radiation: No
Reconstruction: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Timing: Primary
Flap placement: Subcutaneous
Opposite breast: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Nipple: Local skin flaps and tattoo
Comment: The cancer was on the right side, and skin was excised to obtain clear margins. Abdominal skin from the DIEP flap was used to replace it. On the left side, a prophylactic mastectomy was performed and no skin was taken. Note the difference in scarring.
