DIEP 05
Age: 37
Diagnosis: Breast cancer
Radiation: No
Reconstruction: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Timing: Immediate
Flap placement: Subcutaneous
Opposite breast: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Nipple: Not reconstructed
Comment: The incision extending from the left nipple-areola complex towards the left armpit is rarely made nowadays. At that time, vessels in the axilla were commonly used as recipients for the flap. The internal mammary vessels are now preferred and they can be accessed via the incision passing around the areola. Nipple reconstruction, if desired, is performed using local skin flaps and tattoo on the exposed circle of DIEP flap skin
