What Does a Mommy Makeover Consist of?

After childbirth, many women struggle to reclaim their bodies. Stubborn fat may persist despite exercise, the stomach may have a permanent pooch, and the breasts may be deflated and sagging. A Mommy Makeover combines the following plastic surgery procedures to help women recapture a youthful, feminine body shape.
Tummy Tuck
Pregnancy stretches the abdominal skin and muscles in ways that can be irreversible in some people. Women’s abdomens are not always able to revert to their normal taut, flat state from before the pregnancy. A tummy tuck addresses the excess skin, loose muscles, and stubborn belly fat resulting from pregnancy. This part of the Mommy Makeover trims away the excess tissue and tightens the abdominal muscles to make the abdomen flat and firm once again.
Breast Augmentation
Breast enlargement and engorgement occurs while a woman is pregnant and breastfeeding. After she stops, the breasts may involute, becoming flaccid and empty. For some, this means that breast size, volume, and firmness can change significantly. Some women go from a size C and up to an A cup after nursing due to the volume loss they experience. A Mommy Makeover with breast augmentation corrects volume loss by inserting implants behind the breasts. Implants redefine the shape, take up the slack, and increase the size of the breasts to create a more youthful and attractive breast appearance.
Breast Lift
In conjunction with the volume loss that can occur after pregnancy and breastfeeding, breasts can also become ptotic (saggy). Breast ptosis results in limp, deflated, shapeless, and low-hanging breasts. A breast lift corrects drooping breasts after pregnancy by restoring breast firmness, projection, shape, and appearance. When combined with breast augmentation in the Mommy Makeover procedure, these two procedures significantly improve the appearance, firmness, and projection of the breasts.
Liposuction
Troublesome fat deposits put on during pregnancy may be difficult to eliminate afterward, even with strict dieting and daily exercise. Liposuction may be incorporated in the Mommy Makeover and helps women get rid of stubborn fat. This procedure can remove fat from nearly anywhere on the body and is frequently performed on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, and back.
A Mommy Makeover typically consists of these four procedures but can be customized to include fewer or more procedures based on the patient’s needs.
