Fillers are proliferating on the market at the moment. Different compositions are being introduced with the idea of making them last longer. Some have properties of longevity but can ‘bead-up’ if placed too superficial. Others are thin and suitable for use in wrinkles. Nevertheless, the effect of injectable fillers is the same, whatever one is injected: they expand the tissues into which they are placed.
Silicone liquid was injected at one time but its use is condemned today. Although it lasts ‘forever’ it is difficult to remove and can become the focus of a chronic smouldering infection.
